ABOUT DR. LINDS

A native of Arkansas, Lindsey currently lives in San Diego with her dog, Bodhi. As a Native American woman of the Wyandotte Nation Tribe, as well as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Lindsey is passionate about serving these communities, especially young girls, by utilizing sports and education as a vehicle for change.

Lindsey serves as a Mental Health Specialist with the Wounded Warrior Project, where she leads programs that integrate adventure-based therapy with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support veterans living with PTSD. She also brings expertise in mindfulness practices, somatic approaches, polyvagal theory, and trauma-informed care.

As a successful collegiate student-athlete, Lindsey excelled on and off the basketball court. During her years as a Riverhawk at Northeastern State University, Lindsey received numerous athletic and academic awards and honors. As a graduate assistant, Lindsey pursued teaching and coaching before realizing much of her passion stemmed from the mental aspect of performance. Lindsey began researching factors relative to performance enhancement, specifically targeting musical intervention and its impact on sport and exercise performance.

While attending Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, Lindsey earned her BA in Psychology and MS degree in Health and Kinesiology. Her research examined musical intervention and shooting performance in collegiate basketball players. She went on to the University of Arkansas to pursue her doctoral degree in Kinesiology Pedagogy, with the intention to teach and coach at the collegiate level.

Her doctoral research focused on the pedagogical aspects of golf and the psychological factors relative to participation and retention.  After earning her PhD, Lindsey pursued her specified passion for sport psychology by attending Argosy University, earning her second masters in Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology. She examined mental health among LGBTQ+ athletes and athletic personnel, as well as systematic strategies that can foster more inclusive athletic environments, departments, and organizations. With a passion for understanding the mind, a love for active listening and the knowledge of applicable resources, Lindsey’s purpose was cemented by the desire to “play it forward” through mental coaching. Through this program, your work gives back to organizations that support young athlete development.
